Over a decade of "Not Just A Walk In The Park".

September 9 marks the 11th year of Not Just a Walk in the Park for Excel Homes in partnership with Hospice Calgary. We are proud to share that over the past 10 years we have managed to raise a staggering $325 000!

This event brings together our staff, trades, suppliers, and other business partners, along with their friends and family to participate in either a 5k walk or 10k run in Bowness Park.

You may be asking yourself why Excel has chosen to support Hospice Calgary for over a decade now? We feel that Hospice Calgary is a vital part of the community, they do two things that are both very impactful:

1. Provide a place for people who need end of life care at their Rosedale Hospice

2. Provide counselling and education for those who have recently lost someone they love at their Sage Centre

Pretty heavy stuff, right? These are things most of us don’t think about, which is sad because grief can be a big burden to carry. Whether you’re the one entering the last stages of your life, or you’ve just said your last goodbye to someone you love – you’re going to need some support. This is precisely why Excel feels so strongly about supporting Hospice Calgary year after year. People go through hard times; Hospice Calgary aims to help them through it.

As always, Excel will match each and every donation we receive – so please donate! The more money we collect, the more people Hospice Calgary is able to help during these difficult times. Whether you’re participating in the 10k run or bringing the family down for the 5k walk, don’t be afraid to ask people for donations. Yes, times are tight, but there’s a good chance when people know and understand what the cause is, they will want to donate. At the end of the day – most people just want to help.

We’re excited to lace up our sneakers, connect with our colleagues, enjoy the beautiful scenery that Bowness Park has to offer, and indulge in some tasty burgers and hotdogs after all of that rigorous exercise. Here’s hoping that we not only surpass our donation amount of last year, but also the number of participants.
