Get Out and About in Calgary This Month!

Lifestyle & Design

Looking for for some fun activities to do around Calgary? Here are a few suggestions for the month of February!

EDUCATIONAL: The Telus Spark Science Center is the place to be every second Thursday of the month. It is Adults Only Night from 6-1pm. There are DJ’s, bars and hands-on experiments. It’s a great place to take a date or head to with a group of friends. The Being Human Exhibit is a great way to get close to a date - one of the activities includes hugging for 2 seconds to boost the Oxytocin in your body!

CHARITABLE: The event is called the Coldest Night of the Year and it takes place on Saturday February 22, 214 from 5-8pm. It’s a 2, 5 or 1 km walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for Homelessness. There’s a small $25 registration fee but all proceeds go towards a good cause. The walk begins at St. Mary’s Hall and you just go from there. Sounds like a great way to get the family out and active plus it helps to support a serious problem within the city.

FAMILY SKATE AFTERNOON: On February 22, 214 Calgary will be hosting a Family Skate Afternoon followed by a Chili Cook Off! This is a great chance to get the family together and enjoy the last little bit of the winter season. The event will take place at Rutland Park Community Hall, 313 4 Avenue SW. Enjoy a leisurely family skate from 2-4pm and finish off the day by competing in the chili cook off from 4:3-6:3pm. Admission is free but you must RSVP for the chili cook off to [email protected]

ZUMBA: If you ever wanted to try Zumba but didn’t feel like spending the money or are just too tired to attend a class after a long day of work then you’re in luck! The Calgary Public Library will be hosting a free Zumba class on Saturday, February 22 from 11am-12pm. It’s a great opportunity to try out a new activity without giving up your hard earned money or Tuesday night. It will take place at the Village Square Public Library located at 2623 56 Street NE.

SOCIAL: Winefest Calgary takes place from Friday, February 21st to Saturday, February 22nd. It is being held at the Stampede Park BMO Centre. It’s a great way to try a variety of wines from around the world, as well as an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres. This year there is a free mobile app for your smartphone that helps you make the most of the event!
