Excel Homes Shines at the 2024 Calgary Corporate Challenge

Get to know us

This year, Excel Homes brought our A-game to the Calgary Corporate Challenge, showing off not only our competitive spirit but also our commitment to team bonding and community involvement. The annual event, which gathers companies from all over the city to compete in various sports and activities, has become a much-anticipated tradition for our team.

This year, our team participated in a range of events, including volleyball, bowling, trivia and corn hole. The enthusiasm and dedication from everyone involved reminded us of the power of teamwork and the importance of celebrating victories together.

We placed 9th place overall in our division and in the September Games, and posted a record 86 points, participating in 21 of 30 sports and special events. While all of our teams did extremely well, we took home 5 medals! A gold in bowling, a silver in mini golf and 3 bronze medals in badminton, bocce ball and mini golf.

Giving Back to the Community

The Calgary Corporate Challenge isn’t just about medals and trophies though—it’s about building relationships, boosting morale, and giving back to the community. Community involvement is at the heart of the Calgary Corporate Challenge. Each year, the event raises funds for local charities and encourages participants to contribute in unique ways. Excel Homes took this to heart, organizing several internal initiatives to support our charity partners.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta

Ronald McDonald House Charities supports families seeking vital medical treatment for their seriously sick or injured child. Our team members started off in July with attending a Lunch and Learn hosted by RMHC, which raised awareness of how they support families on their medical journey, and how Excel employees can help.

Then In August, a group from the Excel Homes team had the pleasure of volunteering for Home for Dinner at the Ronald McDonald House in Calgary. They purchased groceries and cooked dinner for families staying at the House. It was an extremely rewarding evening where our staff got to interact with families and put a smile on their faces with a home cooked meal.

Lastly, we participated in Hustle for the House, where a group from Excel celebrated the spirit of determination, resilience, and community in a family-friendly walk/run.

Canadian Blood Services

At Canadian Blood Services, they are committed to ensuring that their donor and registrant base reflects Canadian society, especially in racial and ethnic diversity. This year, we organized a blood drive for staff, which included 5 new donors and we were presented with a plaque at the closing ceremonies for our combined efforts.

A Big Thanks to Our Team

We want to extend a huge thank-you to every Excel Homes employee who participated, cheered from the sidelines, or helped coordinate our participation in this year’s Corporate Challenge. Your energy, enthusiasm, and dedication truly embody the spirit of Excel.

We'd also like to thank our volunteer crew, who helped run the Mini Golf event at Future Golf. Mini Golf was sponsored by Excel Homes this year, where we hosted a hole-in-one competition with an engaging prize wheel, giving out lots of free swag!
