Employee Spotlight: Shelby Milne - Senior Corporate Accountant

Meet Shelby, our Senior Corporate Accountant, who plays an integral role in keeping us on track and toward our financial goals with her strong attention to detail. When Shelby isn’t busy crunching numbers, she loves to play various sports and is an enthusiast in the Calgary Corporate Challenge that Excel Homes participates in every September. What is your official title?

Senior Corporate Accountant.

When did you start with Excel?

I started with Excel in November 2022.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is the satisfaction that I receive when I successfully complete a project and get a moment to reflect on the hard work that I put in to accomplish it. Whether it is completing a month end, delivering a set of Financial Statements or launching a new program for the company, I love the feeling of a job well done!

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy playing sports in my free time, specifically badminton and 5-pin bowling. This month, I represented Excel Homes in various Calgary Corporate Challenges, including badminton, bowling, laser tag and curling, where we brought home 2 medals - a gold in bowling and bronze in badminton. I can also be found volunteering at the Calgary Zoo on a weekly basis, usually hanging out with the penguins.

What’s one fun fact about you or something that makes you unique?

I am accustomed to many extreme temperatures as I have lived in cities that routinely have temperatures below -40°C (Whitehorse, Yukon) and +40°C (Perth, Western Australia).
