Senior Land Accountant

The Role

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Land Accountant will possess excellent critical thinking capacities and financial accounting skills. They will be an excellent problem-solver, able to adapt to any situation and possess a sense of urgency, working in a time sensitive environment. The candidate will be counted on to manage the day-to-day accounting function of the land division.

The Responsibilities

  • Full cycle accounting for the land division, including month end journal entries, account reconciliation, GST fillings and accounts payable/receivable oversight for a multiple entity (project) environment
  • Prepare consolidated reporting packages for the land division and entity level financial statements
  • Assist Corporate Controller with business plan templates, quarterly investor reporting and other deliverables
  • Maintain and update monthly/quarterly proforma land forecasts
  • Prepare monthly draw packages for land development projects and act as the main point of contact with cost consultants
  • Liaise between accounting divisions and the Land Development Manager
  • Support and review work prepared by the Junior Land Accountant, as required

Now Let's Talk About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • A CPA/CA designation or enrollment in the program will be considered an asset
  • Real Estate/construction/land development accounting experience will also be considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of full cycle accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with common accounting systems
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral.
  • A “make it happen” attitude, along with a strong commitment to teamwork, and initiative.
