Welcome Spring Décor Into Your Home

Lifestyle & Design

Rather than waiting patiently for spring’s first blooms, or lets be honest winter’s last snowfall, we propose welcoming the warmer season into your home immediately. You never know, a little interior design inspiration may be all the motivation that Mother Nature needs. We’re big proponents of making simple, inexpensive décor changes. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck this way.

Lighten It Up

Swap out heavier fabrics for lighter materials. Replace faux fur and wool pillows and blankets with linen or cotton. Placemats and tablecloths can receive the same treatment. Woven rope accent pieces are big this spring and make for an interesting addition as an entryway rug or storage basket. Go a little further and update the drapes. Think sheer and flowing. Try removing throws from beds to create a more airy look. Eliminating clutter and storing some of your year-round décor pieces will also have a positive affect.

Colour Confidence

Introduce pastels. You don’t have to be a wilting violet though. Funk it up with a cool pattern, or mix it up by pairing a softer hue with its bolder counterpart. Pale pink and fuchsia make for quite the statement. Décor pieces are the easiest way to implement this. Bedding, towels, napkins, throw pillows and vases. A papered or painted feature wall will have more of an impact though. But if you can’t commit, maybe just dip a toe in. Removable wall decals are fun, inexpensive and totally temporary.

Flower Power

Tea vases in powder rooms, larger arrangements in entryways and hanging baskets on porches are all ways to bring the outside in. Play a bit and see what works. Flowers instantly brighten up a space and smell great to boot. Floral prints are also fun in spring. Don’t just limit these whimsical prints to fabric. Serving dishes, artwork and wallpaper (and decals!) are all great options as well.
