Organizing Your Closet is As Easy As 1, 2, 3!

Home Tips & Tricks

Spring is here! Yes, we realize there is still snow on the ground and temperatures are still feeling wintery, but that doesn't mean a bit of spring cleaning and organization can't begin. One of the easiest places to start is your closet. With a few simple tips you can de-clutter and organize your closet allowing you to shave precious minutes off of your morning routine!

Here’s how:

1. Colour coordinate your closet! It sounds like a daunting task but it really won’t take you that long to complete and the time you save will be worth it in the end. Pull out all of your clothes and separate them into piles according to colour (ie. reds, blues, greys). Once all of your clothes are grouped together by colour simply hang them back up for easy access!

2. If your drawers are jammed and over stuffed with socks and underwear alleviate some of that space by investing in a large sturdy storage bin. There’s no need to buy a boring plastic Tupperware one, pick something made of fabric to match the colours of your room. Fill it to the brim with anything that can easily be tossed in the bin (and afford to get wrinkled) and hide it away in your closest. Voila! Your drawers will now slide in and out with ease.

3. Invest in a hanging rack that can be used for multiple purposes. The trick is to find one small enough so it doesn’t dominate your entire closet but large enough so you can tuck shoes and rolled up sweaters into it. This will help to store summer shores for the winter and allow you to fold up clothing rather than having to hang every single item.

Getting organized is never a fun job but it is always worth it. Not only will you save yourself time and frustration in the morning you but will also get to clean out your closet at the same time. In the end you will have more room to see what’s in your closet and actually wear it and whatever you no longer need or want can always be donated to a great cause such as The Calgary Women’s Shelter.
