Introduction to Built Green Canada

If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you might be aware that Excel Homes is a member of the Built Green Canada (BGC) program and that we are proud to be the second largest registrant of Built Green homes in Canada.

So what does this mean for you as a potential home-buyer? Over the coming weeks, we will convert the “building-science” jargon about Built Green homes into bite-size explanations that we can all easily digest. Plus, it will help you see why purchasing a BGC home with Excel makes a positive influence on your family’s long-term health, the environment (and your bank balance too!).

Did you know, since 25, Excel Homes has built over 22 Built Green homes, and all of these are third party certified. This means that as builders, we must adhere to a checklist which includes the following top-level requirements:

  • energy efficiency
  • indoor air quality and ventilation
  • waste management
  • water conservation
