Excel Homes Gets Social

Get to know us

We believe that building exceptional homes requires an amazing team of dedicated and motivated people. We also understand the importance of having a positive, fun and engaging work environment. Excel created the Culture Club to organize staff gatherings, parties and contests as well as company wide volunteer events. Here are a few of the programs we’ve rolled out in the past 12 months!

  • Chill Out Lounge: Our lunchroom received a complete redesign and renovation recently. It’s now the gathering place for coffee breaks, lunch, impromptu parties and watching Ellen and other important programming (Stanley Cup, Olympics and World Cup Soccer!!)
  • Breakfast Program: We all know how busy mornings can be. Between early wake-ups, packing school lunches and dropping the kids off at school it’s pretty easy to miss the most important meal of the day. Excel’s Breakfast Program ensures that we’re all well fueled for the day by providing fresh fruit, toast and bagels, yogurt, trail mix and coffee. Our onsite construction and sales teams are also taken care of with monthly Safeway gift cards that are used for purchasing breakfast goodies.
  • Charity Events: Giving back is important at Excel. Our Culture Club organizes company wide volunteering events with non-profit organizations. We’ve strolled at Not Just a Walk in the Park in support of Hospice Calgary, donated goods for the Back to School Food Drive, grown out our facial hair for Movember, donated blood and worked up a sweat at the Mother’s Day Walk, Run and Ride fundraising event. We also participate in an annual volunteering event called Feed the Hungry, where we prepare and serve food for those in need.
  • Contests: A little friendly competition always keeps us on our toes. The most recent battle was a Chili Cook-off. Excel’s Chili Champion used a smoker to cook the meat and the result was pretty darn incredible. We really enjoy our annual events, including our pumpkin carving contest.
  • Parties: Letting loose helps us stay focused – and we throw a pretty mean party. We always start the year off by sharing great food and company at the Social Year Kick-Off Potluck. Our biggest annual event however happens on the first weekend in December when we gather in Banff for our Christmas party. Spouses and partners are always invited to take part and many staff members make a weekend out of it.
